Click  here to read part 1 of the missing mistress.  “Mr. Arthur, I just received  a call from our search team. We have  di scovered  Akua’s  body in a bush around  her  neighbourhood .  “You what? Jake springs to his feet  with his eyes and mouth wide open but speechless.” The two police officers swap cunning little looks at each other before turning a gaze at Jake almost in unison as if to say what kind of charade is this man playing? “ We appreciate your cooperation so far  but I’m sorry, with the turn of events we may have to hold you here for further interrogation . We  have murder on our hands and you are a prime suspect.”  The news knocks every wisp of air from his lungs as he lifts his shaky hands to cover his face. “I have to speak to my lawyer,” Jake requests, almost mumbling, trembling. “Sure, Mr. Arthur, you may go ahead. And just so you know, we have in our possession, Akua’s phone a...

Inside Asiedua’s chest: The missing mistress

Akua’s phone beeps. It is a text message from Jake announcing his arrival at their usual meeting place. Few days or weeks ago this would have been a perfect call to pleasure with all its benefits but not today. Not when she has news to break, news of pregnancy with a married man. She replies to the text almost reluctantly, telling him she was on her way. Is Jake going to accept the pregnancy and leave his wife for her as promised? Or is he going to persuade her to terminate the pregnancy? These two questions put her on pins and needles as she journeys in a taxi to the hotel where Jake is waiting. She had learned of her pregnancy the day before and has never slept since then. With pursed lips, forehead pressed to the window, she stares absent-mindedly at buildings, trees and vehicles. Akua’s mind is miles away from the back of the moving red and yellow Kia Rio taxi where she sits. She’d been thinking about how she is going to break the news to her boss and boyfriend, Jake. Inside Asiedua’s chest: My husband’s mystery job

Image
I was exhausted and heavily drained after work that Friday. It was so bad I could hardly get out of my car when I finally reached home. Finding my keys in my handbag was another stress altogether but I managed that and walked to the door. I could not wait to get that cold shower and the good night rest I needed so badly. But I noticed something – the light in my bedroom was on. It wasn’t as if it was unusual because sometimes in my haste to get to work early, I forget to put it off. But I was pretty sure I switched it off that morning because I had to go back to the room and put it off after I saw it on through the window. I reached out for the doorknob and before I could insert the key, the door flipped open. Then my heart skipped. “What is happening?” I murmured to myself and dropped my handbag right at the door. I was alarmed, I couldn’t have left my lights on and the door unlocked, especially when a neighbour had been robbed and stabbed a few days ago. The most likely gues...

Inside Asiedua’s chest: Let’s talk about SEX

Image
Yes, our topic today is SEX! It is a subject every Ghanaian man, woman and lately even children love but none of them has the courage enough to discuss it in public. It is a subject that makes many men tingle in places they will not admit in public. I know women love the subject too, but with my screaming SEX headline, I am sure that if you are a Ghanaian reading this in the office, vehicle, you most probably have looked over your shoulder to find out who is watching or paying attention. Don’t worry I looked over mine for several weeks, months before pouring my thoughts and SEX experiences in this write-up. Hello!!! Stop imagining things. Before I go any further, tell me, did judge me or stop to think about the number of times I have had Sex in my young adult life merely because I mentioned SEX experiences? If you didn’t judge me, congrats, you don’t see anything wrong with talking about SEX. If you did, then I guess you grew up in a home where the mention of sex or anything t...
