Click  here to read part 1 of the missing mistress.  “Mr. Arthur, I just received  a call from our search team. We have  di scovered  Akua’s  body in a bush around  her  neighbourhood .  “You what? Jake springs to his feet  with his eyes and mouth wide open but speechless.” The two police officers swap cunning little looks at each other before turning a gaze at Jake almost in unison as if to say what kind of charade is this man playing? “ We appreciate your cooperation so far  but I’m sorry, with the turn of events we may have to hold you here for further interrogation . We  have murder on our hands and you are a prime suspect.”  The news knocks every wisp of air from his lungs as he lifts his shaky hands to cover his face. “I have to speak to my lawyer,” Jake requests, almost mumbling, trembling. “Sure, Mr. Arthur, you may go ahead. And just so you know, we have in our possession, Akua’s phone a...

Inside Asiedua’s Chest: My husband’s bestie

After a long lecture about being careful and studying hard, with his forefinger pointing at me and in a deadpan tone my father said: “You better not come home with just a degree, you should come with a responsible man as well.” Although it was said jokingly, it had a massive impact on me back at school. I lived each day on campus with a burning desire to get good grades and a fine, responsible man as an icing on the cake. I was buried in studies for the first two years but the focus changed a little in my third year. I met my husband, Micah through my then roommate and best friend, Dede. In the second semester of our third year, Micah, together with a lady called Darkoah used to visit Dede in our room. Dede said they were both her course mates and study group members. Micah and Darkoah were assumed to be lovers because they were usually seen together. Before I met them, Dede used to tell me about them and expressed her admiration at the way they laughed at each other’s jokes and w...

Inside Asiedua’s chest: I killed my love Pt. 2

Yes, life happened. The memory of the great times Louis and I had in our first few months of marriage is still fresh on my mind. Little did I know that happiness, like glass, breaks easily. The memory of happiness they say makes misery woeful. Maybe that’s why I am where I am now. I still remember the day my joy turned into horror as if it was yesterday and my life has never been the same again. It started like any other day. I was still in the first trimester of my pregnancy and you know what that comes with. I spent more time out of bed than in it at night due to bathroom breaks and some other pregnancy woes. This made me so tired and sleepy during the day. On this day, I called out sick so I could go see a doctor and probably get some rest. My husband did too, so he could take me. Loving and caring Louis would not let me drive in that state. Despite my mood swings and increased irritability, he still treated me like a princess. I was given some medication and assured it w...

Inside Asiedua’s chest: I killed my love Pt. 1

Forget about the sly smile on my face, look deep into my eyes and you will see pain, even feel it. What happened to me has taken away every ounce of purity from my very being. That emotional pain has left nothing but scars that will forever remain. Hurt people they say, hurt people. That’s exactly what I have been doing. I killed my love, but I did not kill anybody, confused? Come along, let me tell you my story. It was a Tuesday, not just any Tuesday for me because it was my second day after my 27 th birthday. I had fantasized about making gestures with my left hand on that day just to show off my ring but that sadly didn’t happen. What could be compared to the sight of my boyfriend on one knee posing the question on my twenty-seventh birthday?  Tell me can anything be bigger than that for a bachelorette? You can call me desperate but I have no shame; I had waited for it long enough and I thought that twenty – seven would be a perfect age to get married. My boyfriend of...
